Etsy Shop Announcement and About Section for Pakistan Sellers: Examples and a Story Template (2026)

A buyer decides whether to trust your shop before reading a single listing, and the two places that decide it are the shop announcement and the About section. The announcement sits under the listings on your shop homepage and should stay short: what you sell, what the buyer gets, and anything current, like a sale or a break. The About section holds the longer story, up to 5,000 characters, plus up to five photos with captions. This guide gives you a formula for the announcement, a template for the story, and examples written for Pakistan digital sellers, so you can fill both in from your own facts without copying another shop.

Where the announcement and the About section live

Sellers mix these two blocks up because both sit on the shop homepage, but they do different jobs and buyers read them differently. The announcement is the greeting a visitor sees first. The About section is the story a buyer reads when they are already interested and want reassurance before they pay. Write each one for its own reader, and neither one will have to do the other job.

BlockWhat it is for
Shop announcementThe announcement appears under the listings on your shop homepage. Shoppers see it when they open your shop, which makes it the first trust line a buyer reads, not a footnote.
About sectionShoppers find the About section by scrolling down your shop homepage on desktop and mobile, or by selecting the About tab at the top of your shop homepage in the Etsy app.
How to edit the announcementOn Etsy.com, go to Shop Manager, select the pencil icon next to your shop name under Sales Channels, go to the Announcement section, and choose Add a shop announcement or Edit. On the Etsy Seller app, go to More, then Shop settings, then Shop appearance, then Shop announcement.
How to edit the About sectionOn Etsy.com, go to Shop Manager, then Settings, then Your shop, and select Shop home editor in the top right corner. You can also select the pencil icon next to your shop name under Sales Channels and scroll to the About section.
One rule for bothYour shop must be open to the public before you can add an announcement or an About section. If your shop is not open yet, finish the setup first, then write these two blocks.

The visuals around these words, the banner, icon, and listing photos, are covered in the shop branding and visuals guide. Words and visuals have to agree: an announcement that promises instant downloads next to a banner that looks like a physical gift shop will confuse the buyer both blocks are trying to reassure.

The 3 line announcement formula, with examples

A good announcement answers three questions and then stops. Line one: welcome, and what this shop sells. Line two: what the buyer gets, in delivery terms. Line three: anything current, a sale, a new collection, or a short break. If there is nothing current, leave line three out rather than inventing a sale. The four examples below are written for Pakistan digital shops; replace every bracket with your own fact, and delete any line that is not true for your shop.

Digital planner shop

Welcome to [shop name]. Instant download planners, journals, and trackers, designed for printing at home or use on a tablet. Every file is ready to download the moment your order completes, and every listing shows exactly which sizes and formats are included. Message me any time if a file does not open the way it should.

Wall art shop

Welcome to [shop name]. Printable wall art for homes, nurseries, and offices, in five sizes from one download. Your files arrive instantly after checkout, no shipping, no waiting. This week: [current offer or note, for example 20 percent off the full collection].

Wedding invitation shop

Welcome to [shop name]. Editable wedding and event invitation templates you can personalise in minutes. Each listing states which program you need to edit it and what is included, so there are no surprises after checkout. Need a colour change before you buy? Message me first and I will confirm whether it is possible.

SVG and craft bundle shop

Welcome to [shop name]. SVG, PNG, and DXF cut files for Cricut and Silhouette, tested before every listing goes live. Downloads are instant, and each listing lists the file types included and the machines they work with. New bundles land every [day of the week you actually publish on].

Notice what none of these examples do: none of them lists a return policy, a file size limit, or a processing time table. That detail belongs in the shop policies guide and in each listing description. The announcement is a greeting, not a contract, and a greeting that tries to be a contract gets skipped.

The 5 part shop story template

The About section fails in two opposite ways: it is either a blank space, or a wall of text about the seller that never mentions the buyer. The five parts below keep it in the middle. Work through them in order, one or two sentences each, using only facts that are true for your shop. If a part has no honest answer yet, for example you have no team to introduce, skip that part rather than inventing one.

1. Who you are, in one or two sentences

Say who is behind the shop and where you work from, in plain words. A Pakistan digital seller can simply say they design from Pakistan for buyers worldwide. Do not write a life story here. One honest sentence about the person beats a paragraph about a childhood dream, because the buyer is deciding whether to trust a seller, not read a biography.

2. What you make, and for whom

Name the products and the buyer they serve, for example planners for busy students, or wall art for new parents decorating a nursery. If your shop serves one niche, say so. A shop that tries to be for everyone reads as a shop that is for no one, and a buyer who recognises themselves in this sentence keeps reading.

3. How it is made

Describe your process at a high level: you design each file yourself, test it before listing, and update listings when you find a better version. For a digital shop this is the proof buyers look for, because there is no physical product to inspect. If you use tools or a production partner, say so honestly rather than leaving the buyer to guess.

4. What the buyer actually gets

Spell out the delivery in concrete terms: instant download after checkout, the file formats included, the sizes available, and whether the buyer prints at home or uses the file on a device. This is the sentence that prevents the most common digital buyer disappointment, which is expecting a physical parcel and receiving a download link.

5. What happens next, and how to reach you

Close with the next step and the help you offer: check the listing description for the full file list, message the shop with questions before buying, and expect a reply within your stated message response time. A story that ends with a clear next step converts better than a story that simply trails off.

A worked opening, using only placeholder facts, shows the shape: “I design printable planners from Pakistan for students and small business owners who want their week on paper. Each file is designed and tested before it is listed, so the download you receive is the file I checked myself. You receive an instant download in the sizes and formats listed on each listing, ready to print at home or use on a tablet. If a file does not open the way it should, message the shop and I will help you fix it.” That is five parts, five sentences, and nothing invented.

What Etsy Help actually allows in the About section

These limits are stated by Etsy Help, not seller lore, so you can plan around them instead of guessing. The character limit is generous, which is exactly why most About sections are too long: the limit is a ceiling, not a target. The photo and video options matter most for a digital shop, because a screen recording of your design process is the closest thing a digital buyer gets to seeing the product made.

Story length

Etsy Help states the About your shop story is 5,000 characters or less. That is generous, but a story that uses all of it usually repeats itself. Aim for 600 to 1,000 characters that follow the five parts above, then stop.

Photos

You can upload up to 5 photos with captions for the About section, showing your workspace, your process, or items from your shop. Images can be .jpg, .png, or .gif files up to 2MB, and they display cropped to 760 by 468 pixels, so check how each photo crops before you rely on fine detail.

Video

You can add a featured video that shows your process, materials, workspace, or team. The video must be an MP4, MOV, AVI, MPEG, or M4V file up to 300 MB. A short phone video of your screen while you design is more convincing for a digital shop than a polished advert.

Team and social links

The About section also lets you add shop members with a name, role, bio, and photo, and your social media handles. Add them only if they are real and current. A dead social link in the About section hurts trust more than no link at all.

For the file side of the delivery promise, the digital downloads guide covers the limits your announcement and story should stay consistent with: five files per listing, 20 MB per file, and the file name rules.

5 announcement and About mistakes Pakistan sellers make

Writing your life story instead of a buyer story

The About section is where shoppers learn who you are, but the buyer is reading it to answer one question: can I trust this seller with my money. Every sentence should serve that question. If a sentence only serves you, cut it, and replace it with a fact about the product, the process, or the help you offer after purchase.

Turning the announcement into a policy dump

Etsy Help says to keep the announcement short and sweet, and to put detailed information in the About section, shop policies, and item descriptions instead. An announcement that lists every return rule, file format, and exception gets skipped entirely. Keep the announcement to the three lines in the formula, and let the policies page carry the detail.

Leaving a stale sale or away note up for months

Shoppers can see when an announcement was last updated, and a sale that ended months ago or a holiday note from last season tells a buyer the shop is not being looked after. Update the announcement the day a sale ends or you return, even if the rest of the text stays the same. A fresh date is itself a trust signal.

Copying another shop's story or announcement

Borrowing another seller's words is not a shortcut, it is a mismatch waiting to be noticed. A story that promises a process you do not follow, or an announcement that offers help you do not provide, will be exposed by the first buyer message. Write from your own facts, even if the result is shorter than the shop you admire.

Leaving both blocks blank on a new shop

A new shop has no reviews, so the announcement and About section carry more weight, not less. They are the only places a first buyer can check that a real person runs the shop. Fill both in before you promote the shop anywhere, even if the first version is simple. A short honest version beats an impressive blank space.

Frequently asked questions

What should an Etsy shop announcement say?

Keep it to three lines: a welcome and what you sell, what the buyer gets (for a digital shop, instant download and the formats included), and anything current, like a sale or a break. Etsy Help advises keeping the announcement short and sweet, and putting detailed information in the About section, shop policies, and item descriptions instead.

Where does the Etsy shop announcement appear?

The announcement appears under the listings on your shop homepage. Shoppers can also see when it was last updated, so update it the day a sale ends or you return from a break. If your shop language is not set to English, the displayed date may not update, and Etsy suggests adding the date manually to the first line.

How long can an Etsy About section be?

Etsy Help states the About your shop story is 5,000 characters or less. You can also add up to 5 photos with captions, an optional featured video, shop members, and social media handles. A story of 600 to 1,000 characters that follows a clear structure usually reads better than one that uses the full limit.

What should a Pakistan digital seller put in the About section?

Who you are and where you work from, what you design and for whom, how the files are made and tested, what the buyer receives (instant download, formats, sizes), and how to reach you with questions. State the delivery plainly, because the most common digital buyer disappointment is expecting a physical parcel and receiving a download link.

Should the announcement and About section say the same thing?

No. The announcement is the short version for a shop visitor: what you sell, what the buyer gets, and what is current. The About section is the longer version: the story, the process, the photos, and the team. Repeating the same paragraph in both places wastes the one place a buyer actually reads for depth.

Etsy shop announcement me kya likhen?

Teen lines likhen: pehli me welcome aur aap kya bechte hain, doosri me buyer ko kya mile ga (digital shop ke liye instant download aur file formats), teesri me koi current baat, jaise sale ya chutti. Lambi tafseel About section, shop policies, aur listing description me rakhen, announcement me nahi.

Etsy About section kaise likhen?

Paanch hisson me likhen: aap kaun hain, aap kya banate hain aur kis ke liye, files kaise banti aur test hoti hain, buyer ko kya mile ga (instant download, formats, sizes), aur sawal ke liye aap se kaise rabta karein. Etsy ke mutabiq story 5,000 characters tak ho sakti hai, aur 5 tasveeren bhi laga sakte hain.
